Abstract: In the new era, ideological and political education of college students is becoming more and more important, and new media technology has also been widely used in education. In this context, this paper will elaborate the influence of new media on college students' ideological and political education, and analyze the ways to improve the quality and efficiency of ideological and political education based on WeChat official account from different angles. Through the analysis of this paper, its purpose is to give full play to the value of new media and innovate the way of ideological and political education in order to provide reference for teachers.

Based on the current communication environment, new media has a great influence on college students' political attitude, value orientation, psychological development, behavior and moral concepts. In fact, there is a close relationship between ideology and ideological and political education, so using the new media represented by WeChat official account to carry out ideological and political education can improve the spread speed of advanced ideas. However, in the traditional ideological and political education, its methods and ideas have basically solidified, which brings certain challenges to the new media teaching.

First of all, the application of new media technology has improved the living level of ideological and political education and built a more free and convenient communication platform for teachers and students. At present, WeChat has become an indispensable communication tool for college students in their daily life, providing a new way to communicate with the outside world. Through WeChat official account, teachers' work pressure can be reduced, the distance between teachers and students can be shortened, and it is convenient for students to receive relevant knowledge.

Secondly, based on new media technology, college students' subjective initiative and self-management consciousness can be further strengthened. At the university stage, college students are in a critical period of forming their outlook on life and values, and at the same time they also have their own unique ideas. The application of new media in teaching can break the limitation of teaching space and time to a great extent, so as to meet the relevant needs of college students.

First of all, the application of new media technology in ideological and political education has no obvious teaching effect. In colleges and universities, ideological and political education is basically completed in the way of traditional classroom. In this kind of teaching, teachers still spread information unilaterally, and the ideological and political content is boring, which affects students' interest. Applying WeChat account to it, students have a new way of learning, but it will reduce their enthusiasm for class [1].
