Medical education refers to the educational activities to train medical and health personnel purposefully, planned and organized according to social needs. Generally, it refers to the medical education at the university level.
Medical education has formed a corresponding curriculum system, including:
(1) Public basic courses, including humanities and social sciences courses, provide students with cultural and moral education;
(2) General basic courses, including biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and other natural science courses, lay the foundation for studying medicine;
(3) The basic medical course is about the normal and abnormal morphological structure and function of human body, as well as the basic theoretical knowledge of treatment and prevention, which lays the foundation for learning clinical medicine;
(4) Medical clinical courses. Its teaching arrangement is based on disciplines and follows the principle of gradual progress. From general to medicine, from basic to clinical, the whole teaching process is divided into three stages. First, in the pre-medical stage, public basic courses and general basic courses are offered, and students are basically not exposed to medicine. In some countries, this stage of teaching is conducted as a pre-medical course in comprehensive universities; China, Japan, the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries conducted research within 1 ~ 2 years after entering medical school. Second, basic medical courses are offered in the early clinical stage, and medical students begin to learn basic medical theoretical knowledge and skills, but they don't contact patients. Third, in the clinical stage, medical clinical courses are offered and teaching practice is carried out. After the course, we will arrange a production internship for about one year to carry out clinical work as an intern (nurse).
