East China Normal University, referred to as "East China Normal University", is located in Shanghai and directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It ranks among the national "Double-Class", "985 Project" and "21Project", and is selected into "Strong Foundation Plan", "201Plan" and "1Plan".

East China Normal University was founded on June 195 1 month 1 6, and transferred to some departments of Daxia University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925). 1972 merged with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education and other institutions and changed its name to Shanghai Normal University.
1980 Restore the name of East China Normal University. 1997- 1998, Shanghai Preschool Teachers College, Shanghai Education College and Shanghai Second Education College merged successively.
