Beijing Sport University was founded in 1953, formerly known as the Central Institute of Physical Education. 1956 was renamed Beijing Sport University, and 1993 was renamed Beijing Sport University. It is a national key university, a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, and the first batch of "double first-class" construction universities in China.

Subject major

The school now has four departments: Sports and Health Department, Humanities and Social Sciences Department, Olympic Sports Department and Sports Engineering Department. The Department of Physical Education and Health has seven colleges, including the College of Education (Physical Education Teachers College) and the College of Psychology. 8 colleges including School of Management; The Olympic Sports Department has nine colleges (schools), including China Football Academy (China Football Coaches Academy) and China Basketball Academy. The Department of Physical Education and Engineering has a School of Physical Education and Engineering.

Based on undergraduate education and focusing on postgraduate education, the school is one of the first doctoral degree awarding units in China's sports colleges. There are 4/kloc-0 undergraduate majors in physical education and sports training, including 4 national first-class undergraduate majors/kloc-0 and 8 provincial first-class undergraduate majors. The discipline layout involves nine disciplines: pedagogy, law, economics, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management and art.
