1. It is illegal for teachers to punish students for money. Because China's Law on the Protection of Minors stipulates that if a teacher fines a student, the education administrative department or other relevant departments shall order it to make corrections. 2. If the circumstances are serious, the directly responsible person in charge and the responsible person shall be punished. If the teaching and administrative staff impose fines, corporal punishment in disguised form or insult their personality on minors, their units or higher authorities shall order them to make corrections. If the circumstances are serious, it shall be punished.

Legal objectivity:

Article 234 of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance. Whoever commits the crime mentioned in the preceding paragraph and causes serious injuries shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years; Whoever causes death or serious disability by particularly cruel means shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than 10 years, life imprisonment or death. Where there are other provisions in this Law, such provisions shall prevail.
