Answers to the Basic Connotation of National Security
Legal analysis: National security refers to the ability of national political power, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, people's well-being, sustainable economic and social development and other major national interests to be relatively free from dangers and internal and external threats, and to ensure a continuous state of security. Contemporary national security includes 16 basic contents: political security, homeland security, military security, economic security, cultural security, social security, scientific and technological security, network security, ecological security, resource security, nuclear security, overseas interests security, biological security, space security, polar security and deep-sea security.

Legal basis: National Security Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).

Article 1 This Law is formulated in accordance with the Constitution in order to safeguard national security, defend the people's democratic dictatorship and the Socialism with Chinese characteristics system, protect the fundamental interests of the people, ensure the smooth progress of reform, opening up and socialist modernization, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
