Comparison of admission methods

Under the unified college entrance examination system, domestic universities mainly rely on a single college entrance examination score. Although some universities have introduced the system of self-enrollment, for most candidates, it is still "one exam for life". Candidates who want to be admitted to an ideal university, in addition to the strong backing of test scores, also need to fill in the college entrance examination volunteers with great care. Once they make mistakes, they may miss out on the ideal university.

In China, it is not uncommon that the scores caused by volunteering errors far exceed one line, but in the end, only two ordinary books can be entered, or the scores are exceeded, but there is no school in the end.

In foreign countries, in addition to scores, students' specialties, comprehensive performance and recommendation letters from tutors are all very important reference factors. Usually, first-class universities require at least two letters of recommendation, and referees should sign their names to show their positions. Universities will screen applications and carefully examine them. Take Harvard University as an example. After receiving the application, Harvard University will invite dozens of retired admissions officers and alumni with enrollment experience to read all the materials and write audit opinions.

Secondly, the full-time auditors of the admissions office will re-examine these materials and select the best candidates, which will be decided by the dean of the admissions office. If the dean has any objection, it will be submitted to the screening Committee for discussion. As long as one member thinks that an applicant's situation is worth discussing, all members must examine the applicant's potential from all aspects. This complete assessment mechanism can consider the applicant's comprehensive quality from all aspects, while the strict examination system eliminates falsehood and bribery. Students can apply to many excellent institutions at the same time without worrying about missing the opportunity to enter a prestigious school because they are rejected by one of them.

Major and course selection

The choice of majors in domestic colleges and universities is completed when they enter colleges and universities to fill in their volunteers. Students and parents don't know the major, but they should apply within the specified time. However, due to the limitation of grades and places, students may not be able to enter their favorite majors, or they may be transferred to departments that are completely uninterested. It is very difficult to change majors after entering school.

Compared with domestic students, students studying in overseas universities have much higher freedom in choosing courses. In addition to the main courses of this major, students can also choose a large number of related courses according to their own interests.

Comparison of teaching modes

Teaching investment

Domestic universities have repeatedly emphasized improving the quality of undergraduate education and put forward strict requirements for students. However, in most cases, it is very difficult to implement because of the huge number of students and the shortage of teachers. Paying attention to undergraduate education means that professors must be required to spend a lot of time on curriculum design and teaching. However, in China, the promotion rating of college teachers is directly linked to topics, papers and research results, which leads to insufficient attention to teaching. Although many schools put forward that the teaching situation should be the key reference standard when promoting professional titles, it is difficult to fully implement the overall promotion system reform in a short time, and it is also difficult to evaluate the teaching effect through quantitative indicators.
