Merger and Migration of Science and Technology College of Hunan University of Technology
According to the document published by Hunan Provincial Education Department on May 25th, 20021,it can be known that the College of Science and Technology of Hunan University of Technology, Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College and Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College merged into Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical University (tentative name).
But in fact, before this, there was news of school transfer. On May 8th, 20021year, Hunan University of Technology College of Science and Technology, Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College and Hunan Railway Vocational College of Science and Technology signed a contract and merged into a public undergraduate vocational college.
On September 30, 2020, Zhuzhou held a special meeting on the transfer of the College of Science and Technology of Hunan University of Technology, and discussed and exchanged suggestions on the transfer. It is planned to co-ordinate the educational resources of Zhuzhou higher vocational colleges and merge with the College of Science and Technology of Hunan University of Technology to build a high-level undergraduate college. At that time, the specific operation plan and school name were not announced.

However, judging from the current situation of the transformation of independent colleges in China, all the independent colleges merged with higher vocational colleges have been transformed into public universities.
At the end of 2020, Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College held a special conference on undergraduate preparation for vocational education. At the meeting, the school leaders introduced the current progress of the merger and transfer of schools and undergraduate schools, and arranged the next step according to the Work Plan of Undergraduate Vocational Education of Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College.
Under the policy that the Ministry of Education requires the national independent colleges to complete the transformation as soon as possible, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province has discussed the transformation of the College of Science and Technology of Hunan University of Technology, and plans to merge with Zhuzhou Vocational College and turn it into a public undergraduate college.
It is reported that there is only one public undergraduate college in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, and it is necessary to further optimize the public undergraduate education resources. There are few independent undergraduate course universities in Zhuzhou, only one is Hunan University of Technology, but it was not until 20 14 that this school began to recruit doctoral students, and the transfer of independent colleges provided an excellent opportunity for the local area to fill this gap.
In this way, from the similar situation in other provinces and cities, the merger of three universities in Zhuzhou should be to create a vocational and technical university. In the local area, an ordinary undergraduate course and a higher vocational undergraduate course can complement each other, with locomotives and rail transit equipment as the pillars to serve the local industry. Although there are many cases of merger with higher vocational colleges in the transformation of independent colleges, only this one is the joint transformation of three universities.
