La FEMIS, Fondation Europé enne pour les mé tiers de l 'image et duson, is a French public institution of higher film education, supervised by the French Ministry of Culture, which provides technical and artistic education to train professional audiovisual and film professionals.
The entrance examination for La FEMIS (concours) is extremely strict, usually three times and lasts for four months. The college enrolls about 40 students every year, including 6 photographers, screenwriters, directors, artists, producers and editors (among them, the field record major recruits only girls every two years). The extremely high admission conditions ensure the quality of La FEMIS students. Students who register for the exam must be under the age of 27 and have a diploma equivalent to French bac+2 or above before they can apply for the exam. Usually, at most two international students from non-EU countries are enrolled each year (no international students are enrolled in some years). La FEMIS, local students don't charge any study fees, while foreign students charge high tuition fees. Teaching in French.
There are also L'université d'été (international summer course) and L'atelier/Masterclass (the former is specially set up for potential international young directors under the age of 25, with an annual enrollment of 10). La FEMIS was jointly founded by the Ministry of Culture and the French Embassy at telephone number 1989. The latter is specially set up for directors whose nationality is influential in the international film industry.
