Is education in China a dual-track system or a single-track system?
The current school system in China is a branch school system developed from the monorail school system.

The school education system clearly stipulates that "the state implements a school education system of preschool education, primary education, secondary education and higher education". The branch school system is a form of school system created by the former Soviet Union. Before the October Revolution, the traditional European dual-track school system was implemented in the era of Russian Empire. After the October Revolution, a single-track socialist unified educational system was established. In the subsequent development process, some traditions of liberal arts middle schools in the imperial Russia era and the practice of setting up vocational schools separately were partially restored, thus forming a branch school system with the characteristics of single-track schools and some factors of dual-track schools. Article 17 of the Higher Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that the basic study period of junior college education is two to three years, undergraduate education is four to five years, postgraduate education is two to three years and doctoral education is three to four years. The length of study of part-time higher education should be appropriately extended. Colleges and universities can adjust the length of study according to actual needs.
