Introduction to the founder of Peking University
Liang Qichao, the founder of Peking University.

Liang Qichao, a retrocessor of Han nationality, is famous for his "blessing" and "public". He is also known as the owner of an ice house, an ice drinker, a mourner, a new citizen of China and a free vegetarian. During Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, Juren was a thinker, politician, educator, historian and writer in modern China, one of the leaders of the Reform Movement of 1898, and a representative of modern reformists and new legalists in China. When I was young, I learned it as a teacher. At the age of eight, I learned to be a writer. At the age of nine, I could write thousands of words. 17 years old, promoted. After studying under Kang Youwei, he became a propagandist of bourgeois reformists. Before the Reform Movement of 1898, he and Kang Youwei launched the movement of "writing on the bus". Since then, he has led strong societies in Beijing, Shanghai and other places, worked with Huang Zunxian on current affairs, and served as the keynote speaker of Changsha current affairs school to promote political reform through reform.

In addition, Liang Qichao (with Kang Youwei) is the founder of Peking University. Shi Jing University Hall (Peking University) is a new type of school arising from the Reform Movement of 1898. It was put forward by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao and promoted its successful establishment. It is an institution of higher learning formally established after Liang Qichao personally drafted the Constitution of Shi Jing University Hall. Therefore, Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao are the de facto founders of Peking University.

1895 In August, Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao organized a "Strong Society" in Beijing, actively advocating new learning and strengthening the country and enriching the people.

At the beginning of 1898, with the development of the Reform Movement, Kang Youwei put forward in his book "Imperial Decree Planning" that "universities should be set up in Beijing, high schools should be set up in all provinces, and primary and secondary schools and specialized schools should be set up in all counties".

1June, 898 1 1 day, with the vigorous promotion of Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao, the Qing emperor announced the political reform, and the establishment of Taixuetang was one of the important measures. In the imperial edict, it is emphasized that "Shi Jing University Hall is advocated by all provinces, especially it should be done first". Therefore, Liang Qichao drafted the Constitution of Jingshi University Hall, which was the first constitution of Peking University and the earliest educational system outline of modern higher education in China.

After the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the imperialist powers set off a climax of land division in China, and China once again faced the crisis of being divided and subjugated. In order to save the nation and survive, Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao launched the bourgeois reform movement. They believe that the only way to save the country is to learn from foreign advanced countries and realize reform, which must start with abolishing the imperial examination and establishing schools.

With the vigorous promotion of Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao, on June 1898, 1 1 day, Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty issued the Imperial Decree of Guo Wei, officially announcing the political reform. The imperial edict emphasized that "Shi Jing University Hall is the first of its kind in all provinces, and it should go first". On July 3rd, Liang Qichao drafted the Constitution of imperial academy, which was the earliest educational system outline of modern higher education in China.

In modern times, in order to save the nation-state from peril, the advanced intellectuals in China loudly called for reform and self-improvement and set off a reform movement. Shi Jing University Hall was born in the reform movement of 1898. Shi Jing University Hall is the product of the Reform Movement of 1898, "the direct and priority product of the Reform Movement of 1898" (see my book: Shi Jing University Hall, Peking University and Emperor Guangxu, the Reform Movement of 1898. )
