Although Liaoyuan has a glorious revolutionary tradition, the important changes in people's outlook on life and values under the conditions of market economy have made the patriotic and martial tradition cultivated by Liaoyuan people less and less important in the minds of some teachers and students. In view of this reality, we pay attention to bringing national defense education into the school political and ideological work system.
First, put national defense education on the agenda of the school party branch. As a primary party organization to ensure that the Party's educational policy is fully implemented in schools, the school party branch bears an important responsibility in developing national defense education, improving teachers' and students' national defense concepts and cultivating talents with patriotic thoughts and ambitions. To this end, in recent years, the party branch of our school has always insisted on putting national defense education with patriotism as the core in an important position and putting it on the agenda of the party branch work. The school set up a leading group for national defense education headed by the branch secretary, and appointed a branch member to take charge of the daily work of national defense education. Under the leadership of the Political and Education Group, a teaching and research section for national defense education was established. For example, when we formulate the evaluation conditions of "advanced classes", "excellent teachers" and "three good students", we regard national defense education as an important evaluation content. National defense education has also been brought into the post responsibility system of target management for political teachers in the Party, government and military corps, turning "soft indicators" into "hard conditions". At the same time, the "Measures for the Examination of National Defense Education" has been formulated to inspect and evaluate national defense education every quarter. The evaluation results serve as an important basis for evaluating first and creating excellence. From the glorious history and culture of ancient China to the history of bullying in modern China, from our superior geographical position and rich treasures to our long and complicated surrounding environment, this paper expounds the important position of national defense to the students, makes them understand the truth that "the country is invincible and the people are restless", thus inspiring their patriotic enthusiasm. School physical education is closely related to national defense physical education. In physical education teaching, we have been infiltrating military sports into various sports activities in schools. In addition to physical education teaching according to the syllabus, it is supplemented by military sports such as mountaineering, cross-country, bombing, queuing and military boxing. Invite officers and men of Liaoyuan troops and armed police detachment to conduct military training for students. This not only learned military knowledge, but also strengthened physical fitness, collective concept and organizational discipline. In teaching, we rewrite, expand and abbreviate the famous works with national defense education factors in the text, arrange the composition with patriotism as the theme, and use the forms of knowledge contest, poetry recitation and composition evaluation to infiltrate the teaching content, which has continuously enriched the students' national defense knowledge. In the national defense knowledge contest organized by the whole city in 2000, there were 300 students in our school with an average score of 79.5.
Third, integrate national defense education into colorful extracurricular activities and make a fuss about enhancing the attraction of education.
For middle school students, it is the formation period of ideology. Therefore, in national defense education, we should teach students in accordance with their aptitude on the basis of grasping classroom infiltration, actively open up the second classroom, integrate national defense education with colorful extracurricular activities, and change the education object from passive education to active education.
