But when people mention her, they always affectionately call her "the daughter of Dunhuang". It is Fan Jinshi's lifelong love and pursuit to pass on the beauty of Dunhuang.

From 65438 to 0962, Fan Jinshi, a major in archaeology in Peking University, came to Dunhuang, Gansu for an internship. "Look at a cave and say yes. It's good to see another one. I can't say how valuable it is, but it is shocking and exciting. " She will never forget her first meeting with Dunhuang.

1987, the Mogao Grottoes were approved as the first batch of world cultural heritage in China, and all the application materials were written by Fan Jinshi. Later, under her impetus, a series of protection regulations and protection plans were issued. In order to permanently preserve and utilize the cultural relics information of Dunhuang Grottoes, Fan Jinshi led the team to establish a systematic "Digital Dunhuang" resource library, so that Dunhuang culture and art can truly go out of the grottoes and go to the world.

By the time these huge projects landed, Fan Jinshi was nearly 80 years old and had worked hard for more than half a century. She did everything she could for Dunhuang.

At the same time, she pays close attention to the development of archaeology in Peking University, and also cares about her brothers and sisters. She has communicated with students many times in the form of letters, speeches and messages. On 20 19, she said to the freshmen in the letter, "Be a broad-minded and kind-hearted Peking University student." In 2020, she also sent a message to the freshmen of the Institute of Archaeology and Culture that they should have the mentality and preparation to sink into the secluded world and integrate their personal pursuit into the sacred cause of archaeology.

Fan Jinshi once said: "We will go wherever the party and the country need us to go." In order to fulfill this promise, she exchanged her hair for Dunhuang's "Forever Face".
