Project 985 is an important decision of China Municipal Government to build a world-class university, and it is the third project in the field of higher education in China after Project 21/KLOC-0 and Project 985. Although Yan 'an University is not a 2 1 1 university or a 985 university, it is a university jointly established by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, and is formed by the substantial merger of Baoji University, Yan 'an Medical College and Hanzhong Normal University.
