Foundations of primary and secondary education

The foundation of primary and secondary education refers to the all-round quality education for the younger generation, which lays the foundation for their future life and development. Different countries have different economic development, scientific and cultural development, and different basic education years and requirements. Both primary education and junior high school education in China are basic education, and senior high school is a higher level of basic education. Basic education is the basis for cultivating socialist citizens with ideals, morality, education and discipline.

From the perspective of primary and secondary school students after graduation, the foundation of primary and secondary education is mainly manifested in the following aspects.

The first is to lay the foundation for growing into a qualified worker. Most high school graduates will go to the society and engage in certain productive or service labor; In addition to some junior high school graduates entering ordinary high schools, some of them receive vocational and technical education in high schools. The foundation of middle school education lies in laying a foundation for their employment and receiving certain vocational and technical education and training.

The second is to lay the foundation for receiving higher education. Some junior high school graduates enter secondary specialized schools to receive secondary specialized technical education; Most high school graduates will go to higher education institutions. The foundation of middle school is to lay the foundation for these students to continue their studies.

The third is to lay the foundation for personal lifelong learning. Primary and secondary education is not only to prepare for direct employment, but also to prepare for further studies. Employment or further study after graduation is a social choice, but no matter what the result is, everyone must receive lifelong education to adapt to the development of modern society, and primary and secondary education has laid the foundation for continuing lifelong education.

Primary and secondary education is the basic project to improve national quality. Primary and secondary education lays the foundation for students' future development, that is, for improving the quality of the Chinese nation. Primary and secondary education is different from higher education, and few people receive higher education. With the implementation of universal compulsory education, more and more people are receiving primary and secondary education. In the future, all members of society will have at least received junior high school education, so the quality of the whole nation in the future depends on the quality of primary and secondary education now.

The comprehensiveness of secondary education

Basic education should be comprehensive, rather than laying the foundation for a certain aspect. 1982 China's constitution stipulates that "the state trains young people, teenagers and children to develop in an all-round way in morality, intelligence and physique". The comprehensiveness of primary and secondary education follows the requirements of the Constitution.

The object of ordinary primary and secondary education is teenagers, who are in the growth period of body, knowledge, world outlook and moral quality. Therefore, laying a foundation includes not only the development of knowledge and skills, but also the development of physical quality, ideological and moral character and psychological quality. Improving the quality of the Chinese nation includes physical quality, psychological quality, social and cultural quality and so on. This objectively requires primary and secondary schools to conduct comprehensive education for students. Whether the current quality of primary and secondary education is comprehensive is related to whether the national quality will be improved in an all-round way in the future. It is necessary to correct the idea of running a school, overcome the tendency of one-sided pursuit of enrollment rate, and make contributions to comprehensively improving the quality of the Chinese nation.

(3) Compulsory primary and secondary education (currently China refers to junior high school)

"It is undoubtedly one of the important achievements in the second half of the 20th century to recognize that education is the basic right of citizens and the condition of social progress." The compulsory nature of primary and secondary education shows that under the socialist conditions in China, education has got rid of the restriction of class status, and all citizens in People's Republic of China (PRC), regardless of gender, origin, nationality and race, have the right and obligation to enjoy education.
