Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis is an important part of ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities in China. It is the main channel and central link for students to carry out socialist moral education and legal education, which is helpful for students to enhance their socialist legal concept, improve their ideological and moral quality and solve practical problems encountered in their growth.
Since the reform and opening up, especially since the Fourth Plenary Session of the 13th CPC Central Committee, great achievements have been made in the education and teaching of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities in China, which has played an important role in guiding college students to establish a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values. However, under the profound changes in the international and domestic situation, there are also some problems to be solved urgently in the education and teaching of ideological and political theory courses, which have aroused great concern of the central leadership. Therefore, in August 2004, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Education for College Students, and Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education quickly re-planned the curriculum system of ideological and political theory courses. Summing up experience, solving problems and further improving the effectiveness and pertinence of ideological and political theory teaching have become an important and urgent task for educational administrative departments at all levels, universities and curriculum groups.
"Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" is the first ideological and political theory course set up and offered according to the new curriculum system in China, which has a basic guiding role for students to understand and be familiar with university life and establish a correct outlook on life, values, morality and legal system. Through the construction of this course, we can focus on strengthening teaching research, teacher training and other links, so that teachers can concise teaching content, optimize teaching methods, improve the persuasiveness and appeal of teaching, enhance the effectiveness and pertinence of teaching, and truly build this course into a course that students love and benefit for life.
At the same time, "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" is the first ideological and political theory course that freshmen come into contact with after entering school. Through the construction of this course, we can actively explore effective ways to reform the teaching methods and means of ideological and political theory courses, such as carefully designing and organizing teaching activities, highlighting and emphasizing practical links, and improving and perfecting examination methods. , so that students can completely change the inertia thinking of ideological and political theory courses formed in long-term exam-oriented education, and truly feel that "classroom is not just preaching, learning is not just exams", so as to devote themselves to the study of this course with a positive attitude and lay a good foundation for the study of various ideological and political theory courses in the future.
Carrying out the course construction of "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" can inherit and carry forward the profound historical accumulation of our school. Our school has always attached importance to the curriculum construction of college students' ideological and moral courses. As early as 1984, when the Ministry of Education issued "Several Provisions on Offering Communist Ideological and Moral Courses in Colleges and Universities" and 1986, when the State Education Commission issued "Notice on Offering Basic Courses in Colleges and Universities", the school set up a "Moral Education Teaching and Research Section", and set up a teaching staff by combining full-time and part-time jobs to offer "Ideological Cultivation of College Students" and "Philosophy of Life". Zhu Xinjun (later member of the Party Committee of the State Education Commission and Director of the Department of Ideological and Political Affairs), Yang Jingyun (later executive vice president of the Party School of Beijing Municipal Committee), Li Gongyi (now vice president of China Education News) and Wang Minzhong (now deputy secretary of Beijing Education Working Committee) all gave lectures on the stage. During the period of 1994, the teaching and research section of moral education was integrated into the newly established grammar school, and the ideological and moral courses including "Ideological and Moral Cultivation" and "Legal Basis" were included in the pilot construction project of "Two Courses" teaching reform determined by Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Higher Education Bureau. Since then, the construction of these two courses has been more closely combined with the construction of master's and doctoral programs in ideological and political education in our school. In May 2005, the excellent course of ideological and moral cultivation was established with a total investment of 60,000 yuan, and it was awarded the title one year later. In September, 2006, on the basis of re-planning the curriculum system and establishing the teaching staff, Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis was published in an all-round way, and its good effect was reported by China Education News in June, 2006.
Second, the achievements of curriculum construction
Based on the construction of the two courses "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" for more than 20 years, "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" has been officially opened for more than a year. Through the joint efforts of all the teachers in the course group, we have accumulated some experience in the course construction and received good results, mainly in the following aspects:
(A) improve the syllabus, planning teaching content
The course of ideological and political theory is different from other courses. The syllabus and basic textbooks are carefully compiled by experts from the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Education, so the school has no room for free choice. The syllabus and textbooks compiled in this way reflect the development trend of the discipline and the basic requirements of high-level teaching, but may not fully take care of the particularity of students of different majors and levels. Therefore, before the opening of the new curriculum, the curriculum group carefully studied the new syllabus and new teaching materials, and specifically planned the teaching content according to the reality of social development and the ideological characteristics of college students. It not only strictly follows the syllabus, but also vividly creates its own characteristics, thus combining standardized movements with flexible space. Specifically, on the basis of covering the basic requirements of the syllabus and textbooks, flexible teaching content of 10%- 15% is set according to actual needs. For example, with the education of socialist concept of honor and disgrace and the activities of "welcome the Olympic Games to create a new atmosphere", the contents of honesty education and etiquette education have been increased, making the course more flexible and adaptable.
(2) Consolidate the curriculum foundation and enrich the teaching materials.
It is one of the effective ways to improve the teaching methods of ideological and political theory courses to establish a textbook database and realize resource sharing. In the course construction, we take the construction of teaching material database as the top priority. By purchasing a large number of books and audio-visual materials, collecting and editing them by ourselves, a document library, a case library, a video library and an examination library for ideological and moral cultivation and legal basis have been initially established. Especially in the construction of case base, nearly 200 typical cases and more than 50 kinds of video materials closely related to the ideological and moral quality of college students and the construction of socialist legal concept have been edited. Through this construction, the content of our classroom teaching is greatly enriched, and the foundation of curriculum construction is more solid, which lays the necessary material premise for improving teaching attraction and enhancing teaching effect.
Improve electronic lesson plans and enrich teaching methods.
It is an effective measure to change the traditional teaching method and enhance the attraction of teaching to widely use multimedia and network technology and realize the modernization of teaching means. Since the course construction, the members of the course group have studied and mastered modern educational technology seriously, and developed 1 set of electronic teaching plans according to the teaching content and the ideological characteristics of college students. Multimedia teaching has been adopted in all classrooms. In addition, teachers can tap personalized teaching resources and form diversified teaching styles according to their professional background and academic purport. For example, teacher Peng Qinghong pays great attention to the interaction between teachers and students in classroom teaching, and designs a special topic of "telling the truth" to encourage students to explain patriotism and honesty through drama performances. Teacher Zuo Peng pays great attention to collecting the latest trends in ideological and theoretical circles and introduces different opinions to students, so that they can choose and debate freely.
(four) to carry out teaching research and prepare counseling materials.
Strengthening teaching research is the basic requirement for opening and teaching ideological and political theory courses well. Soon after the new textbook of this course was promulgated, the course group made clear the direction of teaching research, decided to study the teaching purpose, teaching content and teaching system of this course, and studied the relationship between this course and other ideological and political theory courses and related courses in middle schools. At present, the teachers in the curriculum group undertake 1 item of Beijing university education and teaching reform, and 2 items of Beijing university ideological and political theory course leader training. In addition, it has undertaken the project 1 funded by the National Social Science Fund which is closely related to the teaching content of this course, participated in the major social science research project 1 of the Ministry of Education, 2 major projects of key bases and 3 general projects of humanities and social science research of the Ministry of Education. On the basis of the self-edited teaching material "Ideological and Moral Cultivation" in 2004, the course group officially published "Selected Cases of Protecting College Students' Rights and Interests and Crime Prevention" in 2007, and participated in the compilation of the teacher reference book "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" and the social practice course for college students, and completed the teaching guidance book "National national cheng kung university-Analysis of Difficulties and Doubts in University Life" (to be published). In the past three years, members of the course group have published more than 10 teaching research papers and more than 10 ideological and political education papers.
Third, the content of curriculum construction.
In order to further improve the overall teaching quality of "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" and create an excellent course that is conducive to students' growth and cultivation of their own characteristics, we have vigorously promoted the construction of this course from the aspects of curriculum system integration, teacher team construction, teaching method reform and examination method improvement.
(A) the integration of the curriculum system, the implementation of thematic teaching
Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis is a course with strong ideological, political, knowledge, comprehensiveness and practicality, covering a wide range. In order to enhance the effectiveness and pertinence of course teaching, we re-integrate the syllabus and basic textbooks, try to extract the most needed things, try to avoid duplication of content and entanglement of chapters, and try to meet the ideological reality and growth needs of freshmen. For this reason, we divide the classroom teaching with a total of 45 hours into 10 units for special teaching. The college students involved in each topic must understand and master the essential contents in their four-year study and life. Setting up a special topic alone is conducive to focusing on the issues most closely related to college students' ideological and moral cultivation and legal foundation, and is also conducive to integrating theory with practice.
(B) to strengthen teacher training, improve the level of classroom teaching
The key to improving the teaching quality of ideological and political theory education lies in teachers. In recent years, through high-level introduction, on-the-job degree study and training, this course has formed a high-quality teacher team with moderate age and reasonable structure. Of the 8 full-time teachers, 3 have doctorates, 5 have senior titles, 1 have outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education in the new century, and 2 have candidates for training academic leaders of ideological and political theory courses in Beijing universities. It is with such a team of teachers with high theoretical literacy and strong teaching ability that the classroom teaching effect of this course has always been in a leading position in similar courses in our school. In the past three years, a total of six people have been rated as "I love my teacher" by graduates. The best teacher in my mind ",three classes were recognized as" inspection-free classes "by the Academic Affairs Office.
(3) Pay attention to the reform of teaching methods and promote the construction of course websites.
In view of the political, ideological, realistic and targeted characteristics of this course, we especially emphasize the leading role of teachers in teaching and the main role of students in learning, vigorously advocate heuristic, participatory and research-based teaching, and seriously explore various teaching methods such as special lectures and case teaching, so as to make it as close as possible to students' reality, conform to the laws of education and teaching and students' learning characteristics, and finally enliven the classroom atmosphere, inspire students to think and enhance the teaching effect. In addition, we also actively promote the construction of the course website, including lesson plans, courseware, cases and related audio-visual materials, and timely publish information such as "career workshops" and "growth forums" on the Internet to answer various problems encountered by students in their growth.
(4) Improve the examination methods and grasp the students' ideological reality.
Examination is the last link in the teaching process, which is not only a test of teachers' teaching effect, but also a test of students' learning effect. In view of the particularity of the teaching purpose and content of this course, we have given up the popular closed-book examination and standardized examination in recent rounds of examinations, and advocated the open-book examination and non-standardized examination in the form of papers or small reports. At the same time, in order to change the disadvantages of "one test determines the outcome", we have increased the intensity of the usual assessment. Before or after each special lecture, students are required to write a sentiment article according to their own knowledge and understanding, not seeking correct views, but seeking truth, which has become an effective link to understand students' ideological trends and carry out targeted teaching.
Fourth, the characteristics of the course
"Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis" is a public compulsory course in colleges and universities all over the country. In teaching practice and curriculum construction, it has inherited the fine tradition of "rigorous style of study and advocating practice" and formed its own distinctive characteristics.
One is to link the practice of this course with the general requirements of college students' social practice and build a big platform for summer social practice.
According to the requirements of the relevant documents of the Central Committee and the Ministry of Education, practical teaching should be strengthened in all courses of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities, and practical teaching should be regarded as an important part of classroom teaching and an important link to consolidate theoretical teaching results. Of the 54 hours required for the teaching of this course, we have set aside 9 hours of practical lessons, which are arranged in the summer of Grade One and Grade Two, together with other practical courses of ideological and political theory. There are various forms of practical teaching, which can be visits, voluntary services, public welfare activities, specialized courses, work-study programs, or special social surveys. No matter what form it takes, the school's "leading group for college students' social practice" focuses on important issues of economic and social development and puts forward principled opinions and requirements in combination with students' reality. The organization and management of practical teaching are jointly implemented by Communist Youth League cadres, student counselors and ideological and political theory teachers. Finally, the teachers of ideological and political theory courses make evaluations and give their grades according to the practical reports submitted by students, which are included in the students' transcripts respectively.
Second, pay attention to case teaching.
On the one hand, we regard the collection and arrangement of cases as the basic work of teaching reform. At present, the book Selected Cases of College Students' Rights and Interests Protection and Crime Prevention has been officially published, and more than 100 cases of ideological and moral cultivation have been sorted out, basically forming a case base. On the other hand, we pay attention to the role of cases in classroom teaching. Most of the topics are imported from cases, and important points are quoted or expounded by analyzing cases. Students also report that case teaching makes the course teaching closer to life, closer to students and easier to understand.
Third, the ideological and political education mode combining teaching with assistance.
In line with the overall arrangement of the school, the curriculum group strives to combine the first lesson of this course with the second lesson of daily ideological education, and actively explores the ideological and political education mode of combining teaching with auxiliary. In April, 2006, the course group, the Student Affairs Office and the Law School jointly launched the essay-writing activity of "Feeling the University" among graduates, and received more than 0/00 manuscripts/kloc, interviewed more than 30 typical people and edited the manuscript of "Feeling the University"180,000 words. In addition, the members of the course group also actively support and guide the law school student counselors to carry out activities such as "career planning workshops" and "growth forums", make use of students' own resources, give full play to the potential of peer counseling, and guide students to become talents actively. These activities have become the highlights of this course construction, and they are also the characteristics of the teaching reform of ideological and political theory courses in our school.
