Hubei three gorges polytechnic is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, where the Three Gorges Project is located. It is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by Hubei Provincial Government, put on record by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Yichang Municipal Government. It is a vocational college with "Hubei Model Vocational College", "National High-quality College Vocational College", "Top 50 Teaching Resources", the first batch of national model vocational education group (alliance) training units, excellent colleges with teacher development index in vocational colleges, excellent colleges with student development index in vocational colleges, the first batch of pilot colleges with Sino-German higher vocational education cooperation projects, and the construction unit of high-level vocational colleges in Hubei Province (file A).
Hubei three gorges polytechnic's school-running history can be traced back to Yichang Finance and Economics School, which was founded in August 1949, and was renamed after many mergers. In July 2002, the school was renamed Yichang Vocational and Technical College; In June 2004, it was officially named hubei three gorges polytechnic.
