Beijing university of chemical technology, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, was founded in 1958. It is a high-level university established in New China to "train advanced chemical technicians needed for the development of frontier science". At present, there are 17 colleges in the school, with more than 55,500 full-time undergraduates/kloc-0, more than 8,600 graduate students, more than 2,200 continuing education students such as correspondence and night university, and 350 international students with academic qualifications.

In 2022, 26 new inter-school cooperation agreements were signed (renewed), and 6 new partners were added/kloc-0. There are 3 international cooperation joint laboratories (research centers) in Beijing, 3 international scientific and technological cooperation bases in Beijing and 5 academic innovation and intelligence introduction bases ("11plan").
