A summary of Schopenhauer's ideological papers
Schopenhauer, a "language artist" (Franz Kafka's eulogy), is outstanding in wrapping the truth with the simplest language coat, so that the truth can directly exert its inevitable shocking power. Because it is profound, it is simple; Because it is simple, it is more profound. Nietzsche described reading Schopenhauer's works as reaching "a forest highland-here, we breathe fresh air deeply, and the whole person feels refreshed, heavy and full of vitality" (inappropriate thought). This group of representative papers only accounts for a small part of all Schopenhauer's philosophical works, but these papers involve philosophy, ethics, psychology, sexuality, aesthetics, education, metaphysics, religion and other aspects, which is enough for us to appreciate Schopenhauer's "out-and-out genius" (Tolstoy's words) ideological charm. Desire not only really contains more psychological knowledge than many systematic psychology, as Schopenhauer said, but also is the smallest book on education. His exposition of the purpose and method of education is only a few thousand words. Can it be compared with some voluminous and irrelevant educational works? This shows the difference between a true intellectual genius and a scholar who only has extensive knowledge and rote learning.
