International Day of the African Child

On June 1976 and 16, thousands of black students took to the streets in Soweto district, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa, to protest against the racist authorities' imposition of the "Ban Toustain" education system with "Africa" (also known as Afrikaans) as the educational language in black schools.
