Since the condemned man is dying, why educate him?

I go to prison as a volunteer counselor once a month. As a consultant for condemned prisoners, I am always in an awkward position. People often question: "Why help the bad guys? The bad guy should let him get what he deserves. Why care about him and coach him? 」

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not talking about abolishing the death penalty, and I don't want to discuss this topic here. On the premise that the death penalty must be executed, I want to talk to readers about "why do you want a lawyer to die?" 」

The duties of a tutor are different from those of a judge. The judge's duty is to judge, and the tutor's duty is to educate. So what exactly did the tutor say to the condemned man?

Counseling the condemned prisoners to sincerely repent and apologize to the victims. At present, there are two directions for my counseling for prisoners on death row.

Direction 1: Sincere repentance

Educate condemned prisoners to repent of their crimes, at least be willing to admit their mistakes before execution, and know how much harm they have caused to the victims. How angry and disturbing it would be if the condemned man did not admit his mistake and repent before he died.

The second direction: understanding life.

I hope my death penalty case can re-understand the value of life, including what a person lives for? Where else are you likely to go after you leave? If there is an afterlife, does he know what kind of life he wants? How to become a better person?

Seeing this, some readers may start to get angry. Since the condemned man deprived others of their lives, it is natural to torture them to please them. A convicted person is unworthy of an afterlife and a good person.

I think I can understand the anger of readers. But the question I'm trying to throw is: What is death? Where will people go after death? There are different interpretations according to everyone's beliefs.

This life is a villain, will it suddenly become a good person in the next life? I try my best to help the condemned man, because I am sure of one thing: if you don't educate him, he won't know where he is wrong. Will he get better if you lock him up for 20 years?

Similarly, a condemned man killed someone, and if you don't educate him, he will be a villain in his life. Will he suddenly become a good person in the next life? Even if he becomes an animal, will he be a good dog?

I think the answer is definitely not. If he becomes a villain and a dog in the next life, who will he hurt? He may have hurt our family and friends.

So, why is it so important to coach condemned prisoners (or felons who gnash their teeth)? That's to protect us. Only by re-educating condemned prisoners and felons can we protect ourselves and prevent our family and friends from being hurt again.

Maybe some people don't believe in reincarnation, and think that condemned prisoners are not worthy of being human. You killed him, and all the problems were solved.

Think about the energy immortality theorem: when people die, matter is transformed into energy. Will a condemned man who is worse than an animal in the eyes of others have good energy? If the condemned man returns to the universe in the form of negative energy, and the energy of the universe is polluted, will you be okay if you are a member of the universe? This principle is the same as air pollution.

What is sincere repentance? Another question for readers is: What is sincere repentance? How do you know he really repented? Is the bad habit of the condemned man so serious? Sincere confession must be false. Educating condemned prisoners is a waste of resources.

Honestly, what is sincere repentance? How to judge that there is no mistake? I don't know myself. But I am still willing to educate the condemned man, because I know that if you don't educate him, he can't suddenly become a good man.

Education is sowing. You sow, and he will have a chance to sprout. If you don't sow and do nothing, he has no chance of getting better. It's not good for anyone to let him leave with hatred and bad habits.

The condemned man is so hateful, why should he be cared for and counseled? In the past five years, the most frequently asked question is: Why should I care about and coach this condemned man, because he is so hateful? Won't you be angry to see him?

This question is simple. You don't need to teach the condemned man hatred. His world is full of hatred, and he is good at hatred and killing. He doesn't know love and respect, so he will hurt others at will. How do you teach him love and respect? Of course, treat him with love and respect and show him.

If you don't show him and show him yourself, he won't understand, because his life itself doesn't exist. You have to let him experience it first, which is why the tutor should treat the condemned prisoners with love and respect.

If you were the victim, would you forgive the condemned man? Finally, a very sharp question is that people often ask the psychological counselor of the condemned man: "If you are the victim, will you forgive the condemned man?" ? Is there any way you can tutor him? 」

I am very clear about this problem. If I am a victim and my family and friends are injured, I will be very sad and angry, and I will definitely not be able to give psychological counseling to the condemned prisoners. I really don't have that noble sentiment, but I hope someone can take the place of my mentor to coach the condemned man, apologize to his family and friends, and sincerely repent.

The tutor's job is to consult, not to judge. The condemned man has been tried, hasn't he? Counseling and trial are two different things. This is a division of labor.

There is nothing wrong with education itself.
