Ya Dan National Geopark in Dunhuang, Gansu Province is located in the west of Gansu Province, in Dunhuang City, at the junction of Xinjiang and Gansu, about 180 km away from Dunhuang City. Geographical coordinates are 92 59' ~ 9315' east longitude and 40 25' ~ 40 34' north latitude, covering an area of 346.35 square kilometers. It is about 100 km away from Yumenguan in the southeast, 20 km away from the ancient channel of Shule River in kharrazi Wetland in the south, Kumtag Desert connected with the head of the famous feathery sand dune in the southwest, 7 km away from Sanlongsha in Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the west, Acic Valley in the west and Lop Nur in the southwest. The park is about 120 km away from the center of Lop Nur Lake. The northern part is connected with the sloping plain of Beishan mountain torrents. In March, 2002, the Ministry of Land and Resources officially announced the establishment of Ya Dan National Geopark in Dunhuang, Gansu, which is the first national geopark named after Ya Dan in China and even in the world. There are 77 geological relics in Dunhuang Ya Dan National Geopark, including landforms, geological structures, water bodies and environmental geological relics. There are six categories: structural landform, flowing water landscape, wind landscape, desert landscape, lake swamp landscape and geological disaster relic landscape; Small and medium-sized structures, flowing water erosion landscape, flowing water accumulation landscape, wind erosion landscape, desert landscape, swamp wetland landscape and mountain collapse relic landscape can be divided into 7 subcategories.
