Xinqing District, known as "the hometown of China white-headed cranes", is an important breeding ground for national first-class protected birds. In recent years, in order to strengthen the protection of white-headed cranes and their habitats and breeding grounds, Xinqing people cut down more than 5,000 cubic meters of wood every year with the ecological concept of "reducing income and protecting the environment", established 62,567 hectares of Heilongjiang Xinqing White-headed Crane Nature Reserve and 4,490 hectares of Xinqing National Wetland Park, and implemented the wetland water diversion project, attracting nearly 50 million tons of water for the wetland park. The wetland ecological environment has been effectively protected and improved, and the biodiversity has been significantly improved, making it an excellent place for many birds to inhabit, breed, migrate and transit.
