Mr. Nan said: What is the focus of "honesty, self-cultivation, keeping the family in order and governing the country" education? At the same time, we can also see the spirit of Confucian scholars of ancient intellectuals, the spirit of "choosing goodness but being stubborn" and "sticking to the good road".
Confucius said, "I believe in learning, and I am good at dying. Dangerous countries don't enter, chaotic countries don't live, and there is no way to hide. The country has a good way, and it is extremely vicious and shameful; The country has no choice but to be rich and expensive, which is shameful. " Faith: Believe faithfully. Refers to having firm confidence in morality and career, and being diligent and eager to learn.
In addition to the virtues of "loyalty" and "faith", Confucius also asked students to be loyal to their own beliefs, have firm confidence in morality and learning, and stick to it firmly. Once confirmed, they will remain the same until death do us part. This is interested in the Tao, "stick to the good Tao." The so-called "three armies can win the handsome, but ordinary people can't win the ambition."
Adhering to the good way is first manifested in adhering to the moral spirit and being impartial.
When Confucius met Qi Jinggong, Qi Jinggong wanted to give Lin Qiu to Confucius as a gift to wish him health. But Confucius declined and did not accept it.
His students are confused. Confucius said, "A gentleman makes meritorious deeds first, and then he is rewarded. I gave Qi Jinggong a lot of advice today, but he didn't take it, but wanted to give it to me. He doesn't know me very well. " So Confucius drove away from Qi. He is looking for someone who really knows himself and can push each other. It can not only show the ambition of the other party, but also make the other party comfortable. Confucius couldn't find it here, so he embarked on a long road of life exploration.
In order to be loyal, a gentleman is not influenced by powerful people.
Confucius asked Yan Hui, "Come back, you are so poor and live in a humble place. Why don't you be an official? "
Yan Hui said: "There is a piece of land outside the city for me to eat and drink porridge; There is a piece of land in the city for me to wear; There is a piano at home, so you can entertain yourself. What you teach is enough to give me great pleasure, so I don't want to be an official. "
For a gentleman, if material wealth is at the expense of spiritual happiness, then he would rather not have it, not envy, and be happy in poverty. This is a strong festival in Yan Hui. Even if you are poor, don't forget to change your mind and enjoy it. It is endless fun to enjoy it. This is to stick to the good road.
Confucius asked his student An Kai to be an official, but Qidiaokai said, "I don't believe you." Confucius was very happy to hear that.
Confucius is eleven years old, and Qi Diao is a history student. One day, Confucius said to Qi Diaokai, "Your education can already serve the society. Go out to be an official. "
But Qi Diaokai said, "Thank you, teacher! I have no confidence in this matter. "
Confucius thought that his students could be officials, but they remained modest and thought that their knowledge and cultivation were not enough. You can't do anything to be an official like this. You might as well not go. It can be seen that he is serious and rigorous.
Here is not only modesty, but also a deep meaning: I can't accumulate knowledge, I can't be a man, and my cultivation is not enough. If I can't be a good person, I won't have the confidence to do things, and I can't do things well. Be a man first, then do things. To do good is to persist in doing good. Confucius' comfort lies in his great appreciation of students' earnest attitude, his emphasis on individuality and his living up to his expectations.
Intellectuals who enter the official career can also "stick to the good road" to keep the moral integrity. In order to do this, we can spare no effort to "sell goods to the royal family" without dignity, but at the same time, we do not lose the independent dignity and personality of intellectuals.
When talking about Confucian scholars' "sticking to the good way", Mr. Nan told an example of Qin Shihuang's period:
Qin Shihuang was very resentful because his birth mother disagreed with Lv Buwei. As soon as he ascended the throne, he drove his mother (Queen Mother) out of the court, lived in a remote town, and ordered that anyone who dared to disagree with this matter would be sentenced to death.
It can be seen that he is determined to win Even under this majesty, Confucian scholars who adhered to filial piety came to remonstrate. But the results were all killed by Qin Shihuang, with as many as 27 people before and after. People also say that he is a tyrant.
So many people have been killed that there shouldn't be any more. But at this moment, a Confucian scholar named Mao Jue of Qi came again, asking to meet the emperor to remonstrate.
Hearing this, Qin Shihuang came again with a daredevil. He was furious and shouted, "Bring the cauldron quickly and cook this guy alive!" " "
Mao Jiao looked at the scene, walked slowly to Qin Shihuang step by step, and said, "I heard that the living are dead, so don't say it directly, and the country is dead. Life and death, the Lord is anxious to hear it. What does your majesty want to hear? "
Qin Shihuang listened and said, "What else do you have to say?"
Mao Jiao said, "Your majesty is crazy and doesn't know it? Che Li's false father (referring to Lao Ai), whose mother and Lao Ai gave birth to two sons, moved their mother to Kaiyong and slaughtered the admonishers. A trip to Xiezhou is not enough. Let the whole world hear about it, disintegrate those who have no direction for Qin, and I will steal it for your majesty. I have finished what I should say. " As he spoke, he unbuttoned his clothes and went to lie down on the beheaded stake. It is equivalent to saying, "You killed it!"
Who knows that at this time, the young Qin Shihuang changed his mind-he stepped down from the throne, admitted that he was wrong, and personally helped Mao Jiao up and named him "Shangqing".
Then, the motorcade was ordered to start. He drove himself, vacated the upper seat on the left, and went to welcome his mother back to the palace, as always, as if nothing had happened.
It can be seen that Mao Jiao's awe-inspiring, heroic and loyal remonstrance is the principle of "sticking to the good way" and sticking to the principle of being loyal to the minister, loyal to the monarch but more loyal to morality. It can also be seen that although Qin Shihuang was mentally abnormal, he finally corrected his mistakes without losing his kingly demeanor.
