At present, there are 14 colleges and universities (8 in the south and 6 in the north) in the education park, with nearly 65,438+10,000 teachers and students. Among them, there are 2 undergraduate colleges, 7 vocational colleges (including 2 five-year vocational colleges), 2 ordinary schools, 2 secondary vocational schools and training institutions 1. It basically covers postgraduate, undergraduate, junior college, technical secondary school, general education, adult training and other levels and types of running schools, showing the characteristics of giving priority to vocational education and the common development of all kinds of education, as well as the diversified running pattern of government, industry and social forces.

In the past ten years, the total investment of the Education Park is nearly 7.4 billion yuan, with a total construction area of 2.554 million square meters, a landscape greening area of 6.5438+0.6689 million square meters, a road site of 6.5438+0.2239 million square meters and a river channel of 308.9 million square meters. Public service facilities are relatively complete, basically meeting the daily needs of teachers and students in the park. There are supporting staff dormitories, kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in the North and South Districts respectively. In addition, there are large libraries and sports centers in the South District, which are shared platforms for teachers and students to study and live.

In 2004, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government formally established the Suzhou International Education Park Management Office, which is specifically responsible for the coordination and supervision of the planning, construction and management of the education park. In 2007, the municipal government decided to implement territorial management of the education park, with Wuzhong District and Gaoxin District taking over the management respectively, responsible for community planning, construction and management, daily maintenance and management of public facilities, and administrative law enforcement.

In order to meet the needs of Suzhou's economic and social development, build an international emerging science and technology city, the most livable entrepreneurial city and a learning city, realize the goal of enriching the people and strengthening the city as soon as possible, further accelerate the development of higher education and vocational education in our city, optimize vocational education resources, adjust the layout structure, expand the scale of education, build a highland for talents, and at the same time accelerate the change of the backward situation in the urban-rural fringe and improve people's living environment. In order to promote the urbanization process, enhance the city's comprehensive competitiveness and enhance the city's image, the municipal party committee and the municipal government are far-sighted and size up the situation. In July, 2002, the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and the executive meeting of the municipal government decided to build Suzhou International Education Park in Fangfang and stone lake, and determined it as a key practical project of the city.

Suzhou International Education Park is divided into north and south areas, with the north area of 3.5 square kilometers, which was developed and constructed by Suzhou Gaoxin Zhong Rui Science and Education Development Co., Ltd.; The south area is 3.2 square kilometers, which was developed and built by Wuzhong Group Education Investment Co., Ltd. The whole park is surrounded by mountains and rivers and the famous Shihu Lake, with unique natural environment and historical and cultural conditions. Therefore, the integration and coordination between the education park and the natural landscape are deeply considered in the planning, so that it can complement the surrounding Shihu Lake and Fangshan Mountain, thus building into a landscape university city with comprehensive and coordinated development of development, sustainable development, education, science and technology, culture and tourism. At present, the south campus of Suzhou International Education Park has been basically completed, and the north campus has begun to take shape, with nearly 80,000 teachers and students, and there are 13 universities, among which 9 universities in the south campus: Zheng College of Literature of Suzhou University, Suzhou College (to be built), Suzhou Vocational and Technical College of Arts and Crafts, Suzhou Vocational and Technical College of Industry, Suzhou Higher Vocational and Technical School of Tourism and Finance, Suzhou Higher Vocational and Technical School of Construction and Transportation, Suzhou Foreign Language Normal School, Lan Ying School and other north areas.
