Schools in Hong Kong can be roughly divided into two categories, public and private. Public schools rely on the government to allocate places, and private schools rely on their own examinations to enroll.
-Diploma
Most public schools read DSE diplomas and international schools read IGCSE and IB diplomas. (I won't elaborate on the specific differences).
-Time
Before going to college, the total study time in public schools is 12 years (from grade one of primary school to grade six of middle school, that is, the third grade in mainland China), generally speaking, it is 12 years in private schools (very few are 13 years).
-Exams
There are no exams in junior high schools in Hong Kong, which are collectively referred to as middle schools (private schools may be different). But the exam from elementary school to junior high school determines your middle school level.
-Holidays
There is no so-called winter vacation in Hong Kong, only summer vacation, Spring Festival holiday and Christmas holiday.
