Selected from Blue Book of Education 2006: The Reform and Development of Education in China.

In recent years, the new education experiment has attracted much attention because of its emphasis on educators' own action reflection and the new education community's concern for social welfare, and has formed a famous educational NGO in China.

The experiment of new education began with the book My Educational Ideal published by Professor Zhu Yongxin in 2000, which put forward the basic idea of "ideal education". Zhu Yongxin's criticism, reflection and desire for action on current education have aroused enthusiastic response from folk education thinkers. Through the network, through dialogue and collision, a new educational idea is gradually formed.

In June 2002, the special website "Education Online" of "New Education Experiment" was launched. In August 2002, the experiment started in Yufeng Experimental School, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. The core concept, basic viewpoints and basic principles are put forward, and the "six major actions" experimental project is planned and designed.

The new education believes that children's learning should not only be "preparing for future work and life", but education should be a basic way of life. Today, children's education at school should be a happy life and serve long-term life and social ideals.

The new education emphasizes "living a happy and complete educational life", which is not only the thinking and pursuit of the ultimate meaning of education, but also the desire and plan to treat the current educational abnormality.

While quality education has become the consensus of more and more people, students' childhood and youth are full of failures and dreams. Many students have lost their bright eyes to the world, their impulse to pursue their ideals, and their simple feelings and gratitude? The new educational experiment puts forward "educational happiness", which is aimed at these abnormal education that is divorced from human nature and destroys childlike innocence.
