The school has a strong atmosphere of education and scientific research and has achieved gratifying results. Chinese "transformation teaching" has been fully affirmed by the Chinese Teaching Committee of Middle School of National Education Association, Shandong Academy of Educational Sciences and Yantai Academy of Educational Sciences, and has been identified as a national experimental subject. The school is praised as "the cradle of innovative talents" by the authoritative organization of China Language Association. 200 1, 10 was established by China Language Association as the experimental school of "Innovative Writing Teaching Research and Experiment", a key scientific research topic in the Tenth Five-Year Plan. In 2002, the school was identified as the experimental school of the moral education sub-project "Research on Basic Moral Self-discipline of High School Students" by the Research Group of Moral Education Center of the Central Institute of Science Education. On June 5438- 10, 2007, the school became an experimental school under the sub-project "Research and Experiment on Promoting Effective Teaching by Using Subject Resources" of the National Eleventh Five-Year Plan of Educational Science and the Ministry of Education.

Since September 2007, the leadership of the school has established the goal of "building Laiyang No.4 Middle School into a famous school in Laiyang and Yantai" and put forward the school-running concept of "people-oriented, research-oriented school". The school hired an expert group headed by a doctoral tutor professor of East China Normal University as the general consultant of the school's reform and development, and launched "focusing on classroom teaching reform, aiming at improving classroom efficiency, taking collective lesson preparation as a breakthrough, and taking collective lesson preparation as a breakthrough".
