The history of the school can be traced back to Zhuzhou Normal School founded by 1958. Zhuzhou Basic University was founded in 1979, China Institute of Packaging Engineering was founded in 1987, and 1989 was renamed Zhuzhou Institute of Technology; 200 1 In 2004, Hunan Urban Construction School and Hunan Accounting School were merged into Zhuzhou Institute of Technology.
