Shanxi Datong University was approved by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) in 2006, and was formed by the merger of former Yanbei Normal College, Datong Medical College, Datong Vocational and Technical College and Shanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College.
The school is located in Xingyun Street, Yudong District, Datong City, covering an area of 2,500 mu and a construction area of nearly 720,000 square meters. The four main buildings of the new campus: the new teaching building, the science and technology experimental building, the new library and the gymnasium were all completed and put into use at the end of July 2008. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment in the school is 97 million yuan, and the library has more than 2 million books. The school has 15 colleges of politics and law, literature and history, foreign languages, art, sports, engineering, medicine, agriculture, business, mathematics and computer, chemistry and chemical engineering, physics and electronic science and technology, education and technology, continuing education, etc., with 35 undergraduate majors and 22,000 full-time students.
2. Datong Coal Vocational and Technical College
Datong Coal Vocational and Technical College was formerly Beiyue Vocational and Technical College. Beiyue Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1975, 1980 with the approval of Shanxi Provincial People's Government, 1982 was formally put on record in the former Ministry of Education, 1999 was approved by the Ministry of Education to merge with Datong Coal Industry School to form Shanxi Mining Vocational and Technical College, and was established independently in 200/kloc-0 with the approval of Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The college is located in the historic city of Datong, with an area of 17 1674 square meters, a green area of 57,224 square meters and a building area of 6,0741square meter, with elegant environment and pleasant scenery. It has high-standard teaching buildings, student apartments, library buildings, student canteens, office buildings, experimental buildings and standard sports venues, and has complete facilities such as bathrooms, health centers, heating and water supply.
The college has 3 14 faculty members, including full-time teachers 105, associate professors 3 1 and lecturers 77. Four departments (departments) are set up, including information engineering department, electromechanical engineering department, economic and trade department and public infrastructure department, which mainly offer general majors such as computer application and maintenance, computer software, e-commerce, business administration, marketing, tourism English, accounting computerization, secretarial and office automation, electromechanical integration and mining engineering.
