Senior high school is a higher education institution after the end of nine-year compulsory education in China. It accepts qualified junior high school graduates, and the general academic system is three years, that is, senior one, senior two and senior three.
High school education in China refers to the high school education after junior high school, including: ordinary high schools, vocational high schools, secondary specialized schools, secondary technical schools and so on. It belongs to the category of high school education. Senior high school education in China is non-compulsory, and students must pay necessary tuition and other fees. Since 2009, the state has implemented the tuition-free policy for senior high schools in some poor areas.
It must be noted that shortening the academic system of senior high school or other stages involves many practical problems. For example, high school teachers may become redundant when the three-year system is changed to two-year system, which will affect the vested interests of some people.
When the 12th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Conference was held in Beijing, Yang Zhanqiu, member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director of the Institute of Virology of Wuhan University, accepted an exclusive interview with China. He believes that ordinary high schools (including vocational high schools) in China should implement free education, and the academic system of high schools should also be adjusted, changing the three-year teaching mode to two-year teaching mode.
For example, last year, Huang Yanru, a member of Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference and political commissar of Guangzhou Military Region General Hospital, submitted a proposal, arguing that the overall academic system was too long, which caused students to graduate too late, causing many inconveniences such as slow adaptation to society and great pressure on marriage and childbirth. He suggested shortening the current educational system from primary school to high school to nine years, so that students aged 19 can graduate from college and plan their lives earlier.
People's Daily Online-Zhang: Changing the length of education is not the fundamental solution.
