Shandong University is the birthplace of modern higher education in China. The main body is Shandong University Hall founded by 190 1, which is the second national university founded by China after Shi Jing University Hall. Its medical discipline originated from 1864, which opened modern higher medical education in China.

As of August, 20 18, Shandong University has a total area of more than 8,000 mu (including about 3,000 mu in Qingdao campus), forming a school-running pattern with eight campuses in one school and three places (Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao).
