Public dietitian is a kind of dietitian, and the whole dietitian profession includes four categories: public dietitian, food dietitian, sports dietitian and catering dietitian. There are three levels in this profession, namely, assistant nutritionist, nutritionist and senior nutritionist. This paper will introduce the training, application conditions and employment direction of public dietitians.

Training module

The training is divided into four modules, including food selection, recipe preparation, nutrition assessment and nutrition education. Teaching and assessment will be arranged from three aspects: theory, practice and skills, totaling about 100 class hours.

Apply for qualification

Level-4 public dietitians need to be engaged in this profession 1 year or above, have a diploma in medical or food secondary school, have received formal training for standard hours prescribed by level-4 public dietitians, and have obtained a certificate of completion.

Employment direction

The employment direction of public dietitians includes practicing dietitians, medical dietitians, health nutritionists, hotel nutritionists, food nutritionists and consulting nutritionists.
