Undergraduate Chinese International Education (subject code: 050 103) is a major integrated according to the Catalogue of Undergraduate Specialty in Colleges and Universities (20 12) of the Ministry of Education and Rusen's Regulations on Undergraduate Specialty Management in Colleges and Universities. Since 20 13, the former majors of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (original discipline code: 050 103*), China Language and Culture (original discipline code: 050 106w) and China Studies (original discipline code: 050 108s) are collectively called as follows.

In other words, there is no such major as "Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" in undergraduate majors, and the professional master is also called "Master of Chinese International Education". At present, some schools continue to maintain the name of "teaching Chinese as a foreign language" in the direction of master's research.

From an academic point of view, teaching Chinese as a foreign language focuses on the theories and methods of foreigners learning Chinese in China, while Chinese international education pays more attention to Chinese going abroad, that is, teaching Chinese in foreign countries.
