Student status files are generally stored in: schools, original household registration places, work units, and talent exchange institutions. Student status files are stored in different locations according to different situations: 1. Leave the file at school. According to the relevant regulations, if I terminate my employment, after I apply to the school, the files can be kept in the school for two years, and the school will not keep them after the expiration. 2. Put the file back in its original place. Graduates who are unemployed or fail to apply to the school for the whereabouts of files will be forwarded by the school according to the address of the registration card. 3. Store the file in the work unit. According to the national policy, the personnel exchange institutions at all levels under the organization, human resources and social security departments are qualified to keep the personnel files of college graduates after employment, and all kinds of private enterprises, township enterprises, Sino-foreign joint ventures and wholly-owned enterprises have no right to manage the personnel files of employees. Graduates can also entrust the talent market to manage personnel relations in their own names.

First of all, the files of college graduates usually have three destinations:

1. After graduation, I found the unit that accepted the hukou, and my files and hukou were transferred to my work unit.

2. After graduation, I didn't find a unit to receive the hukou, and my hukou and files were left in the school.

3. Put files and registered permanent residence in the talent market exchange center.

Second, the role of the student status file is:

1, full-time grading, obtaining cadre status, requires files.

2. Postgraduate entrance examination.

3, take an examination of the public. No files, no political censorship.

4. Evaluate professional titles. The training title needs to calculate the length of service, and how to calculate the length of service is closely related to the file.

5. Examination qualification certificate. How about some exams? It is impossible to register without the certificate and seal of the personnel file keeping institution.

Legal basis: Article 12 of the Interim Measures for Electronic Registration of Freshmen's Status in Colleges and Universities issued by the Ministry of Education, if a student changes the relevant registration information while in school, and the key information such as name and ID number is changed, the student shall provide a certificate of legality, and the school shall strictly review and revise it according to the candidates' admission files and report it to the provincial education administrative department for the record.
