Fujian Institute of Education is located in the center of Fuzhou, near the scenic West Lake. The campus is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the environment is elegant. Founded in 1956, the College is an institution of higher learning with the approval of the provincial government, the director of the provincial education department and the Ministry of Education, which undertakes the training of primary and secondary school teachers and principals in the province, improves the academic qualifications of in-service teachers, and has the enrollment qualification of ordinary colleges and universities. 1993 was awarded the title of "National Advanced School of Higher Education" by the former State Education Commission and "Civilized School" by the provincial government in 2002. The college has eight teaching units, including principal training department, liberal arts training department, science training department, information technology training department, foreign language training department, sports art training department, vocational education department and correspondence education department. It undertakes the teaching task of training 10000 primary and secondary school principals, backbone teachers and nearly 10000 correspondence students in our school every year.
The college has a team of teachers with good quality, dedication and innovation. There are 265 faculty members, including full-time teachers 140, and 67 professors and associate professors. Among the teachers, there are 0/8 doctoral students and 77 master students. Many of them are well-known experts and scholars in our province, with rich teaching experience and outstanding scientific research results.
In the past 50 years, this university has gone through three stages.
The first stage: Before the Cultural Revolution, the college mainly trained a large number of middle school teachers and educational administrative cadres for our province, and carried out long-term education and teaching research, compiled middle school teaching reference books, helped the majority of middle school teachers master teaching materials, carried out scientific experiments, improved teaching methods, and promoted excellent teaching experience through training, which greatly improved the teaching quality of middle schools in our province and made outstanding contributions to Fujian Province winning the "National College Entrance Examination Red Flag" for three consecutive years.
The second stage: After the Cultural Revolution, the College of Education reopened. Faced with the serious situation that the academic qualifications of middle school teachers in the province were not up to standard in a large area at that time, the college undertook the academic qualifications compensatory education, and its main task was to improve the academic qualifications of middle school teachers. Through the national adult college entrance examination, junior high school teachers and senior high school teachers who have not reached junior college degree and undergraduate degree are recruited, and full-time study and correspondence study are adopted to carry out junior college degree and undergraduate degree education. To this end, the college transferred a group of college teachers from other schools, introduced them from other provinces, and borrowed 3 million yuan from the World Bank to purchase teaching equipment to meet the needs of academic education. After more than ten years' efforts, nearly 50,000 primary and secondary school teachers have completed the training to improve their academic qualifications. The qualified rate of middle school teachers in our province has basically reached the national requirements, and a considerable proportion of primary school teachers and junior high school teachers have obtained junior college and undergraduate degrees. In the teaching practice, we will gradually turn our college into an educational center that has a guiding role in basic education, library and information, experiment, audio-visual education, education and scientific research in our province.
In the third stage, after entering the 1990s, with the great development of education, the college conducted large-scale training for middle school principals and key teachers according to the deployment of the provincial education administrative department. Since 199 1, on-the-job training has been systematically carried out for principals and education administrative cadres in ordinary middle schools, vocational middle schools and teachers' further education schools in the province, with more than 5,600 trainees.
For half a century, Fujian Institute of Education has always adhered to the purpose of serving basic education, making great efforts and pioneering efforts. A comprehensive and adaptive teacher training system including all-staff training, backbone training, academic education and special research has been established, which has made important contributions to basic education in Fujian Province in teaching, scientific research, teacher training and primary and secondary school principals training.
At present, Fujian's basic education is in a period of great development and promotion. Fujian Institute of Education conscientiously implements the deployment of the provincial party committee and government and the provincial education department of the provincial education committee, takes Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents as the guidance, thoroughly implements the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, takes "Opinions of Fujian Provincial People's Government on Further Strengthening the Construction of Primary and Secondary School Teachers" as the basis, and closely focuses on the three functions of teacher training, integration of study and study, and leading role.
