The college has a strong faculty, with more than 600 faculty members, including 44 professors, more than 50 associate professors/kloc-0, more than 200 lecturers and engineers, 6 permanent foreign teachers and 86 full-time teachers with master's and doctoral degrees. The college has a team of teachers with excellent quality, reasonable structure and a combination of full-time and part-time jobs. At present, there are more than 3 1.500 students in the college, including more than 20,000 correspondence students and 1.450 students in backbone teacher training courses and new curriculum training courses.
The college now has 16 departments, 49 majors and a second-level college (HMC Language College), with Chinese, foreign languages, education, politics, law and economy, history, management, mathematics, physics, chemistry, information technology, population and life sciences, geography, tourism, art, sports and other majors. Moral education and public foreign languages are directly under the teaching and research section, and higher education, basic education and chemistry are directly under the research institute. With the approval of the competent government departments, Henan Province's continuing education center for primary and secondary school teachers, Henan Province's training center for education cadres, Henan Province's continuing education base for professional and technical personnel and Henan Province's portal website for primary and secondary school teachers' education have been established. Our college is also the training base of National Computer Application Technology Examination (NIT).
The college attaches importance to educational science and applied science research. /kloc-since 0/0, government departments at all levels have approved and funded 328 scientific research projects, published 2,559 papers and 268 monographs and textbooks, and won 426 awards at or above the bureau level. The library has nearly 300,000 books and 763 newspapers and magazines. Periodically edit and publish Journal of Henan Institute of Education (Philosophy and Social Science Edition, Natural Science Edition) and Journal of Henan Institute of Education.
Adhering to the motto of "having both ability and political integrity, seeking truth from facts and being innovative", the College has established and implemented the Scientific Outlook on Development, and insisted on taking talent training as the center and teachers as the main body of running schools. Adhere to the combination of rule of law and rule of virtue, and comprehensively coordinate the reform and development of the college; Adhere to the characteristics of combining academic education with non-academic education, paying equal attention to teacher training and education management cadre training, and connecting pre-service education with post-service education, and achieved good school-running benefits. Since its establishment, the College has trained more than 2 1000 talents, such as primary and secondary school teachers and educational administrative cadres, with students all over cities and counties in Henan Province. Most of them become the teaching backbone of the school and the main leading cadres of the education administrative department. The college has been awarded the titles of "National Advanced Adult Higher Education School" by the Ministry of Education, "Advanced School" by the Henan Provincial Department of Education, "Civilized School" and "Advanced Teacher Training Group in Henan Province" by the Henan Provincial Department of Personnel.
At present, the college has acquired 928 mu of land in Longzihu University Park in Zhengdong New District, and the construction of the new campus is under intense progress. In September 2005, the first batch of students have settled in.
