Taiyuan University of Technology is a national "double-class" key construction university formed by the merger of the former Taiyuan University of Technology and the former Shanxi Institute of Mining. After 1 17, the school has been built into an industry-oriented, science-engineering-integrated and multidisciplinary institution of higher learning. It is the first batch of pilot universities in the national "2 1 1 Project" and the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and the key construction universities in the national "College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan".

Taiyuan University of Technology, as the chief scientist unit, undertook the national key basic research and development plan (973 plan) for two consecutive times, and undertook the national-level projects such as "863 plan" and "national key research and development plan" 1327. Won 54 national and provincial scientific and technological achievement awards1,including 42 national natural science awards, technological invention awards and scientific and technological progress awards.

Five winners of the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, seven winners of the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, four leading talents of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program", three leading talents of young and middle-aged science and technology innovation, two innovation teams of the Ministry of Education, and key fields of the Ministry of Science and Technology 1 innovation team.
