Some people say that the two-level education in the United States is too divided. What do you think of this?
It is also an hearsay about American education. I know something from the media and see something from books. To say that polarization is serious, I think it should be inevitable. This is true of American education, and so is China education. There are all kinds of students who receive education, some who study hard and some who don't, and there will be great differences in study habits, study mentality and study methods, so the final polarization of education results should be a normal phenomenon. Just like our education in China, what's the gap between the two countries, those admitted to Peking University in Tsinghua and those who can't even get into high school?

Behind this problem, there should be a misunderstanding of educational fairness and a concern about the huge difference between public education and private education. It is said that public education in the United States implements basic education, while elite education is usually completed in private education. It is said that I don't believe this. Because from my experience, I feel that no matter what kind of school I go to, there will always be elite and poor students in a school, which should be only a proportion. Of course, I can't go to the United States to verify, just guess by feeling.

However, this problem is also puzzling the current public education in China. On the one hand, we are emphasizing the implementation of fair education, so that every student has the right to receive fair education. On the other hand, since junior high school, most public schools have used various names to divide students into classes according to their grades, because the quality of students and the level of teachers really have an important impact on the success of the senior high school entrance examination and the college entrance examination. This is a real problem that has to be faced, and it can't be solved by slogans. Selection examination is a reasonable way to select talents. Where there is choice, there is competition; where there is competition, there is elimination; where there is elimination, there is cruelty. This should have been normal, but because of the emphasis on educational equity, it has led to the distortion between education on the surface and education in essence. After careful study, the understanding of the concept of educational equity should still be problematic.

In principle, fair education is not to let every child receive the same education, but to let every child receive the education that suits him best. Just as sunlight gives everything, a grass and a tree must have different amounts of sunlight. If there are too many, the problem will be serious. But in reality, people's hearts will not be as peaceful as a grass and a tree, because the resources of public schools are uniformly distributed by the state, so everyone wants to get an average score. However, the reality is unequal, so there will be a lot of injustice and resentment.
