The predecessor of the Jiu San Society was the Democratic Science Symposium. At the end of 1944, a group of progressive scholars formed a democratic science forum in Chongqing to discuss the current situation and express their political views in order to win victory in the Anti-Japanese War and political democracy, and to inherit and carry forward the democratic scientific spirit of the May 4th Movement. Later, in order to commemorate the victory of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the international anti-fascist war, 1945 on September 3, the Jiu San Society was formally established on May 4, 1946.

1949 1 In response to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China's "May 1st" call and Mao Zedong's Eight Peace Propositions, the Jiu San Society issued a declaration to support the convening of a new political consultative conference. From September 65438 to September 0949, Xu Deheng, the representative of Jiu San Society, attended the first plenary session of China People's Political Consultative Conference, participated in the formulation of the common program, the formation of the Central People's Government and the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), and made positive contributions to the establishment of the new China. After the founding of New China, Jiu San Society took the Common Program of China People's Political Consultative Conference and the General Program of CPPCC Constitution as its own political programs, actively participated in the consultations on major issues in the country's political life, organized members to participate in the democratic reform and socialist transformation movement, made important contributions to the development of science and technology, education, medicine and health, and embarked on the road of serving socialism.
