Yunnan Normal University, referred to as "Yunnan Normal University", is located in Kunming, Yunnan Province, and was co-founded by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the People's Government of Yunnan Province.

Their teachers' college stayed in Kunming to set up its own school, which was named National Kunming Teachers' College. 1950 changed its name to Kunming Normal University, 1984 changed its name to Yunnan Normal University, and 1999 merged with Yunnan Institute of Education and Yunnan Institute of Physical Education.

In August 2000, Yunnan Bank School was merged into Yunnan Normal University.
