How does the school regulate the use of mobile phones by teenagers? Montessori did this.
It has been circulated for a hundred years and cultivated Montessori education of Amazon founder Bezos, Google founders Brin and Page, cellist Yo Yo Ma and others. What do you think of the technology of mobile phones? Adam, president of Hudson Montessori Middle School in the United States, said: It is the focus of learning to make junior high school students concentrate more on interacting with people.

Teenagers are easily addicted to mobile games and social software when using mobile phones, and they will become addicted to mobile phones if they are not careful. However, mobile phones are multifunctional and interactive, and can also be used as a tool to help them learn. When it comes to mobile phones, there are always various opinions. How to do it better for students is also the confusion of many teachers.

In early March, Adam was invited to the workshop "Field Montessori Youth Education" co-sponsored by Montessori Global Influence Project of National Chengchi University, Yuyi Future Education Foundation and Taiwan Province Experimental Education Promotion Center. Adam Rudd and Kelly, the liberal arts teacher in the middle of the school? Kelly Ladd shared the teaching experience of Montessori Middle School.

It has been circulated for a hundred years and cultivated Montessori education of Amazon founder Bezos, Google founder Brin and Page, which made many people curious. Montessori education in China mostly stays in the early childhood and primary school stage, and the theme of this workshop is Montessori youth education, which also attracts Montessori educators from all over Taiwan Province Province.

The question-and-answer session of the workshop was quite enthusiastic. Among them, students have put forward several "mobile phone problems" one after another: will Montessori education let children use mobile phones? Is it possible to integrate mobile phones into Montessori system? Besides letting children put away their mobile phones, what better way to guide them? As a Montessori, the lecturer responded to Montessori Middle School's practice and educational outlook;

1.? Control the time when teenagers use mobile phones.

In Hudson Montessori Middle School, the school will control the time when students use their mobile phones. Students can carry their mobile phones, but when they get to school, they need to turn them off and lock them in the cupboard. Adam pointed out that when students connect to the screen too deeply, it will affect their attention to other things, and even describe it as a "disaster" for middle school students to use mobile phones. He said that students are often consumers of mobile phones, such as playing snapchat and instagram, rather than creators, doing meaningful things through mobile phones.

Montessori divides the process of children's development into adults (0-24 years old) into four stages, and classifies children's different psychological characteristics, intelligence and physical development in each stage. Adam believes that it is too early for junior high school students to get in touch with mobile phones, and they should wait until senior high school, because in terms of development, senior high school students' brains can make wise choices and then guide them how to use mobile phones in a limited time. 2. Don't let the mobile phone replace the interaction with peers.

Kelly introduced that in the past, when Hudson Montessori Middle School was a foreign teacher in the school, the school would rent an old-fashioned empty shell machine with no Internet access for students to contact, but now it is no longer possible to rent an empty shell machine. Therefore, this year's off-campus teaching, the school will let students carry smart phones for the first time, but they can only be put in their bags and cannot be used when visiting. At night, the teacher will take them back for safekeeping.

Adam explained that the purpose of off-campus teaching is to design a learning environment for children, that is, to hope that students can leave their family life and communicate with their peers. However, if mobile phones are involved, students can get in touch with others, and their minds are not in the present, which will take up the time to really get along with their peers.
