The Origin of Education and the Emergence of Schools

1. Education is a unique social phenomenon of human beings. It came into being with the emergence and development of human society.

2. Two conditions of education:

(1) the progress of human productive labor (the most basic condition) (2) the formation of language (an important social condition)

3. Regarding the answer to the question of the origin of education, there are "biological origin theory" (Faritler Noh) and "imitation origin theory" (or "psychological origin theory" May Monroe) in the West, while the former Soviet Union insists on the view that "education originated from labor".

4. Human educational activities originated from communication. In a sense, education is a special communicative activity of human beings.

When the productivity reaches a certain level, some people may be divorced from productive labor. When language developed to the appearance of writing, schools appeared. The emergence of schools is a sign that education forms its own relatively independent form. There are two forms of education: (1) specialized school education; (2) Non-school education is still in the process of productive labor.

6. In ancient society, the function of school education to serve the politics of the social ruling class occupied a central position.

In modern capitalist society, school education serves the social material production and the popularization and development of science and culture.
