Chunhui middle school was born during the May 4th New Culture Movement. It was founded by Jing Hengyi, a famous educator and democratic revolutionist in modern times, and Wang Zuo, a rural sage, who returned to his hometown with the support of the national capitalist Chen Chunlan, 200,000 silver dollars.

At the beginning of the Spring Festival, famous teachers from Shuo Yan gathered with the motto of "keeping pace with the times". Successively, Zhu Ziqing, Zhu Guangqian, Feng Zikai, Liu Xunyu, Kuang Hesheng, and Fan taught here. Cai Yuanpei, Huang Yanpei, Hu Yuzhi, He Xiangning, Yu Pingbo, Liu Yazi, Chen Wangdao and Ye Shengtao all came here to give lectures and inspect. For a time, the school became famous, saying that "there is spring in the north and south".
