Xuhui Middle School is the focus of the city. Shanghai Xuhui Senior High School, founded in 1850, is a high school with scientific and technological characteristics in Shanghai, an experimental demonstration high school in Xuhui District, and one of the largest and best middle schools in Shanghai. The school has the reputation of "the first school to spread western learning to the east" and "the standard of all kinds of schools in China". It is the first new school in the history of modern education in China to establish a multidisciplinary teaching system.

Shanghai Xuhui Middle School, formerly known as Xuhui Public School, was founded by Catholic Jesuits in the 30th year of Daoguang reign (1850), also known as St. ignatius Public School, and was founded by Jesuits Nan. 193 1 changed its name to Xuhui middle school, and junior and senior high schools implemented the "three-thirds system". 1953 changed from the government to the public.
