Longnan Teachers College was established in April 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. On the basis of the merger of Chengxian Normal School (1937) and Lixian Normal School (1973) into Longnan Normal School (200 1), it was established as a full-time normal college.

From June 5438 to February 2020, the school was awarded the honorary title of "Civilized Campus in Gansu Province" by the provincial party committee and government.
