His main research interests are second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, English teaching methods, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, language testing and teacher development. He has taught many basic and professional courses such as introduction to foreign language teaching, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, comprehensive English, curriculum design, textbook evaluation, English teaching methods, oral English skills, business English and so on.
He has published more than 50 academic papers, completed Modern English (the second deputy editor), the 10th Five-Year Plan project of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, Comparative Study of English-Chinese Bilingual Psychological Dictionaries for China Students (project number OIJC74000 1), and presided over the project of Chongqing Social Science Fund, Research on Cooperative Teaching Mode of Professional English, and the ministerial project, Research on College Oral English Testing System. In 2002, he independently undertook and completed the project "The influence of second language vocabulary knowledge on the conceptual processing of bilingual mental dictionaries", funded by Chongqing University. As the fourth researcher, Research and Practice of On-the-job Training System for College English Teachers won the second prize of 1997 National Teaching Achievement; As the second researcher, Basic English Teaching for English Majors won the second prize of 1993 Sichuan Excellent Teaching Achievement. In 2002, he won the Baosteel Award for Excellent Teachers. At present, he is in charge of the humanities and social sciences planning project of the Ministry of Education "Research on Age Factors and Phonetic Acquisition in Foreign Language Learning Environment in China" (08JA740048) and the key project of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission "Research on English-Chinese Bilingual Mental Lexicon Based on Artificial Neural Network" (07SK159); Mainly engaged in the national social science fund project "A diachronic study of washback effect of CET-4 and CET-6".
