Guangxi Education Department is the highest government educational institution in Guangxi. Its predecessor was Guangxi Provincial Department of Culture and Education, and it was officially renamed Guangxi Education Department 1983 in September. The education department of the autonomous region takes "serving the people" as its fundamental purpose, and its main responsibility is to formulate policies and plans for educational reform and development in the whole region, draft local education laws and regulations and supervise their implementation. Universities directly under the Education Department include Guangxi University, Guangxi University of Science and Technology and Guangxi Normal University.
