Wei was first seen in Oracle Bone Inscriptions. Its original meaning is an ancient or lush tree that expresses taste, and it also refers to the eighth place of the twelve earthly branches, the "sheep" in the zodiac, the "earth" in the five elements and adverbs that express negation.
