At present, the expenditure on family education in China's basic education stage also reflects the long-standing problems in China's education: insufficient preschool education resources, unbalanced compulsory education, and the tendency of basic education to take exams. Parents are more willing to pay higher tuition fees for their children to enter better kindergartens and schools, and the expenditure on off-campus training is also increasing rapidly.
According to the survey, the expenditure of family off-campus education is mainly the cost of participating in training institutions. Although it seems that the proportion of off-campus education and training expenditure is lower than that of on-campus expenditure, the average proportion of off-campus expenditure of compulsory education in China exceeds 30%, which is very high. If we further refine it to a single family, we will find that quite a few families spend much more on off-campus education than on-campus education.
Experts said that China should further increase investment in education to reduce family spending on school education, and at the same time reform the education evaluation system, guide parents to rationally choose training courses, and reduce irrational spending on off-campus education.
